FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes! We accept walk-ins during business hours. But, to ensure the smoothest experience,
we recommend you call at least a few hours in advance.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can call or email the shop and we will get you
scheduled for a consultation and/or appointment with your artist!
Giant.Robot.slc@gmail.com
Where do I park?
The parking around the shop is a city street that allows 2 hour parking. You are welcome to park on the street but please be aware that you may need to move your car at some point during your appointment. There is a pay to park structure across the street, on the west side of (400W.) the parking structure is grey and has an old Sgt. pepper SLC mural on the side. just pay at the sign. You can also park at Gateway (although the walk is a little longer).
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Make sure that you are well-rested, hydrated, and have eaten something before your appointment. Take care of your skin before your tattoo! If your skin is sunburned, cut/scratched/scraped, or if you are having an allergic reaction or flare up that affects your skin (rash, hives, psoriasis, etc.) we will likely not be able tattoo you that day and you will need to reschedule. Please do not take acetaminophen or Tylenol before your appointment, and let your artist know about medications you take. You will
need to bring your ID. You are also welcome to bring a blanket, pillow, or other creature comforts. You may also bring a tablet, laptop, etc. to keep your mind occupied!
How much will my tattoo cost?
During your consultation, your artist will give you their hourly rate and the
estimated time it will take to complete your piece.
We do not quote prices over email or over the phone.
It is impossible to give an exact quote for a piece,
and price can vary widely based on size, level of detail, placement, etc.
Please note that our shop minimum is $100
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and credit/debit cards
What is your deposit policy?
A nonrefundable deposit is required to book an appointment. Your
deposit is deducted from the total price at the end of your tattoo. If you cancel within three days
of your appointment, the current deposit will be forfeit and a new deposit will be needed to hold
your next appointment. A new appointment will need to be booked with your artist to make up
for the lost appointment.
Do you do cover-ups/reworks/touch-ups?
Yes, on a case-by-case basis. Send us an email with
a clear photo of your current work and we’ll schedule you for a consultation. Your artist will work
with you to design a cover-up that fits your needs while also working within the constraints of the
existing tattoo. For some pieces, your artist may recommend you have a few sessions of laser
removal lighten the existing work before tattooing over it.
Do you do piercings?
No. We recommend Koi Piercing https://www.koipiercingslc.com/ in Salt Lake City
for your piercing needs.
Do you tattoo minors?
Although Utah allows minors to get tattoos with consent, Giant Robot
does not tattoo minors and has a strict 18+ policy.
What is your recommended aftercare?
We use Saniderm and Recovery Derm Shield to heal tattoos.
These are hydrocolloid, medical grade bandages
that create a breathable barrier to help your tattoo heal.
If you are allergic to these kinds of bandages or to adhesives,
let your artist know so we can work with you on “dry healing” your piece. We also recommend using the antibiotic ointment bacitracin, unscented soap such as Dial Gold Label, and an aftercare balm such as Hustle Butter. You will receive a set
of instructions at your appointment for aftercare; you can see a copy of these instructions here.
Please call the shop as soon as possible if you have any questions.
Can I use numbing cream?
Using numbing cream before your
appointment can interfere with the application and healing of the tattoo.
Contact your artist before using any numbing products.
What are your sanitary precautions?
We take hygiene very, very seriously! We use single-use,
disposable tattoo supplies and hospital-grade disinfectant on all surfaces. Nitrile gloves are worn during all phases of the procedure and are changed frequently. A full deep clean of the artist’s station happens between every client and the shop is deep cleaned daily. All staff are trained in bloodborne pathogens and cross-contamination. It is our belief that Tattoos should be fun, exciting, and above all, safe.
What kind of ink do you use?
We primarily use Fusion brand ink, which is organic, vegan, and
made in America. We do not use UV inks at this time.
